Dal Tadka दल ताड़का

Ingredients
  

Lentils

  • 300 g Tur Dal
  • 1 tsp Salt
  • ½ tsp Turmeric powder
  • 900 ml Water

Turka

  • 1 tbsp oil or Ghee
  • 1 tsp Cumin seeds
  • 1 inch Ginger chopped
  • 1 clove Garlic chopped
  • 1 Green chili chopped
  • 1 Onion chopped
  • 1 Tomato chopped
  • ½ tsp Kashmiri red chili powder
  • Fresh Coriander chopped

Instructions
 

  • Add all the lentils ingredient to a pot.
  • Cook with lid on for 20-25 minutes. Check at 20 and add boiling water if required.

Turka

  • Add oil and cumin and let splutter.
  • Add ginger, garlic and chili and cook for a minute.
  • Add onion and brown.
  • Add tomato. Cook for 5 minutes.
  • Add chili powder, mix. Add coriander.
  • Mix the turka with the dal or serve on top.
  • DONE!
