Dhal ढल – Marabout
Ingredients
- 2 tbsp Ghee
- 1 Onion finely chopped
- 2 cloves Garlic crushed
- 1 inch Ginger grated
Spices
- 1 ½ tbsp Black mustard seeds
- 1 Green chili finely chopped
- 1 tbsp Cumin powder
- 1 tbsp Coriander powder
- 2 tsp Turmeric
Lentils
- 100 g Brown lentils
- 65 g Red lentils
- 85 g Green lentils
- 85 g Half yellow peas
Liquids
- 1 big can Crushed tomatoes
- 500 ml Vegetable broth
- 125 ml Water
- 400 ml Coconut milk
Instructions
- Heat the ghee in a big pan. Add the onion and fry until golden.
- Add the garlic and ginger. Fry for a minute.
- Add the spices and mix well. Cook to release the aroma.
- Add the lentils and the liquids. Simmer covered for about an hour. Stir often.
